Uganda Cranes player ratings in the AFCONQ defeat to Tanzania

Uganda Cranes were dealt a punch in the face as they suffered a 1-0 AFCON qualification defeat to Tanzania at the Suez Canal Stadium, Ismailia on Friday.

And, this is how the players rated on an evening to forget.

Goalkeeper

Salim Jamal Magoola (GK) – 05
Not a great day in office after years of unjustly missing a summon to the team. He fumbled a first half Novastus Dismas freekick that eventually hit the post.

Defenders

Kenneth Semakula – 04
Dribbled past with ease in the first half in the unfamiliar right-back position, not stout either in the second. No impact going forward.

Aziz Kayondo – 05
Looked limited by instructions especially going forward. Steady in defence.

Livingstone Mulondo – 05
Strong in the air and won almost all his aerial duels, but slept for Simon Msuva‘s goal.

Halid Lwaliwa – 05

Not as assured as Mulondo, but didn’t do a lot wrong on the night. He has had better performances before.

Midfielders

Khalid Aucho – 05
Decent first half alongside Siraje Ssentamu, shaky and not as authoritative in the second.

Siraje Ssentamu – 05
Only played for the opening half, tidy in possession in a conservative set-up by Micho.

Forwards

Farouk Miya – 03
An unrecognizable display from the Rizespor player who lasted 45 minutes. Not creative and often sloppy in possession.

Joseph Ochaya – 03
Still can’t tell how he played 90 minutes. No effort, no quality and wasted the only opportunity in the first half.

Emmanuel Okwi – 03
The skipper clearly has his best years behind him. Can’t tell exactly what he did right.

Fahad Bayo – 03
Clearly unfit after months without a club. Chases shadows for the only 45 minutes he played.

Substitutes:

Richard Basangwa – 05
His shot was denied by Aishi Manula a few moments after replacing Bayo. Nothing else after that.

Isma Mugulusi – 07
Came on at halftime and the youngster didn’t disappoint. Energetic and creative. Worked tirelessly off the left. Cranes best player on the evening.

Allan Okello – 05
Came on for the injured Steven Sserwadda but wasn’t played to his best attributes as the ball always got hooked away.

Rogers Mato – 04
Didn’t lack effort, but didn’t impact on the game either.

Steven Sserwadda – N/A
Injured immediately after coming on at halftime.
