Home Football Uganda Premier League: All 16 Clubs Licensed for 2024-2025 Season

The Uganda Premier League (UPL) has reached a historic milestone with all 16 clubs securing licenses for the upcoming 2024-2025 season. This marks a significant improvement from previous years when licensing issues plagued the league, leading to the disqualification of clubs mid-season.

Overcoming Licensing Challenges

Club licensing has been a persistent problem in Ugandan football, with many clubs failing to meet the minimum standards. In recent seasons, Kyetume FC and Arua Hills FC suffered the consequences of non-compliance, being forced to withdraw from the league.

However, the 2024-2025 season brings a new chapter. Despite challenges faced by some clubs, all 16 contenders have managed to secure licenses before the start of the campaign. While four clubs – KCCA FC, Vipers SC, Kitara FC, and URA FC – have obtained full licenses, the remaining 12 have provisional licenses that will allow them to participate in the first round.

A Brighter Future for Ugandan Football

The successful licensing of all clubs is a positive step towards enhancing the overall quality of the Uganda Premier League. It signifies a commitment to professionalism and adherence to established standards.

With the league set to kick off soon, fans can look forward to a competitive season featuring all 16 teams.
