The University League defending champions, Uganda Christian University (UCU) were held to a goalless draw by Nkumba University, in their first leg of the 2022 edition quarterfinals.
The action-packed meeting, which was only short of goals in Entebbe on Thursday, left the tie wide open ahead of the second leg in Mukono.
The two sides had a mammoth of great scoring opportunities, but neither was sharp enough with the goal in sight.
As things stand across the entire last eight ties, only one team has won its first leg, with St. Lawrence University beating Kampala University 1-0 on the road last Thursday.
In the other quarterfinal, Bugema University and Uganda Martyrs University shared spoils in a one-all draw, played in Bugema on Tuesday.
Arch-rivals Kyambogo University and Makerere University Business School will conclude the first leg fixtures on Tuesday 27th September 2022 at Kyambogo.
