KCCA FC head coach Abdallah Mubiru is optimistic ahead of their Startimes Uganda Premier League encounter against UPDF FC at Bombo Military Grounds, despite facing squad setbacks.

The Lugogo-based side aims to build on their recent 5-0 thrashing of Mbale Heroes as they push to revive their season.

Mubiru acknowledges the challenge ahead but remains confident in his squad’s preparation.

“We have prepared well against UPDF FC, which is one of the stubborn sides to KCCA FC. The boys have trained well all week; the mood in camp is high, and we hope to use our previous game as a momentum shift as we head into the final bend of the league,” he stated.

However, KCCA FC will be without six key players due to injuries and national team duties.

Steven Munguchi and Julius Poloto are sidelined due to illness, while Mustafa Mujuzi is nursing a muscle injury.

Etienne Katenga and Hassan Muhamud have resumed light training but remain unavailable for this fixture.

Youngster Brian Jjara is away with the Uganda U17 team preparing for the AFCON U17 finals in Morocco.

Historically, KCCA FC holds a dominant record against UPDF FC, remaining unbeaten in their last 11 league meetings.

Their most recent encounter ended in a goalless draw. A win in this match would see KCCA FC climb from 6th place (28 points) to 4th, overtaking URA FC, who sit just two points ahead.

Elsewhere, struggling Mbale Heroes will host Lugazi FC at Mbale Municipal Stadium in a new League entrants clash, while under the floodlights at Nakivubo, Express FC will take on Police FC.
