Uganda Premier League record holders SC Villa narrowly beat Maroons FC 1-0 to return to winning ways on Sunday at the Aki Bua Stadium.
Patrick Kakande‘s first half goal was enough to give the Jogoo their first win in three matches, having lost two in succession, previously.
In the 12th minute, the youngster left the entire Maroons bacline on the floor before he slotted past Emmanuel Akol to put the hosts ahead.
Maroons nearly levelled right away, but, Denis Orombi‘s shot was blocked by Charles Bbaale in the 14th minute.
Upon return of the second stanza, Umar Lutalo should have extended further Villa’s lead after beating the goalkeeper, but Belmos Opio cleared it off the line rather expertly.
In the 50th minute, Villa defender Kenneth Semakula was sent off after denying a goal-scoring opportunity with his hand, but Fred Amaku was denied by Meddie Kibirige from the spot.
