Prolonged negotiations between the Uganda Rugby Union (URU) and Nile Special have culminated in a commitment statement.
According to a press release, the beer brand is thrilled to continue its support of Ugandan Rugby throughout 2025, commencing with the ongoing league.
A portion of the release states, “The Uganda Rugby Premiership has already commenced with exceptional energy, and Nile Special is immensely proud to maintain its position as the title sponsor of this prestigious competition.”
It further asserts that “Beyond the championship, their support will, as always, encompass other key events on Uganda’s rugby calendar, including: the National Men’s and Women’s 7s, Regional 7s, Uganda Cup (Men and Women), University League, and Annual Rugby Dinner.”
Through these partnerships, the aim is to elevate the sport, inspire excellence, and foster a strong sense of community among players, fans, and stakeholders.
Adu Rando, the Managing Director of Nile Breweries, expressed his enthusiasm for the year ahead, stating; “Together, let’s elevate our performance in 2025 — a year to yet again celebrate excellence, unity, and the unmatched bond that rugby and Nile Special create.
“Whether on the pitch or in the stands, this is our time to shine, our time to push forward, and our time to revel in the guts, grit, and gold that make rugby and Nile Special truly unforgettable.”
While this announcement settles some speculation, the duration, financial details, and specific terms and conditions of the agreement have yet to be publicly disclosed.
“To the fans, you are the lifeblood of Ugandan Rugby, the driving force that inspires the players and ignites every moment on match days,” said Eric Malinga, Brand Manager, Nile Special.
For now, we can only say, may the games commence!
