Makerere College School (MACOS) crowned a dominant Central Schools’ Rugby 7s campaign by lifting the overall title and qualifying for the National Ball Games II as regional champions.

The Kampala-based side collected 85 points across four circuits, finishing ahead of London College School, who earned 79 points and also booked a place at the national finals.

MACOS won three of the four circuits, losing only the second round to London College in a sudden-death final at St. Joseph’s Nazareth, Katende.

The competition began with a venue change after King’s College Budo withdrew, forcing the first circuit to be moved to London College. The second and third circuits were hosted by St. Joseph’s Nazareth and Kambogo College, while the final round took place at the Makerere University Rugby Grounds.

At the final circuit, MACOS showed why they were favourites. Led by captain Lamot Magali, they swept through the group stage with victories over Vienna College, St. Joseph’s Nazareth and Hana International.

The semifinals provided their sternest test. MACOS edged St. Peter’s Naalya (SPENA) 14-10 in a tense encounter before producing a composed display to defeat London College 21-5 in the final.
