Uganda Premier League leaders SC Villa opened a four-point lead following a slim but crucial 1-0 win over Soltilo Bright Stars FC on Tuesday at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

Charles Bbaale‘s lone second half goal pushed the record champions (16 titles) to 40 points after 20 games.

On the evening in the capital, Joseph Kafumbe nearly found an early opener in the ninth minute, but Bright Stars’ goalkeeper Sanon Mulabi denied him with an exquisite save.

Later in the 17th minute, Bbaale headed a superb cross from Tabu Oryem inches over the cross bar, to leave the matters at 0-0.

That was before the evening’s only goal that arrived in the 72nd minute, as Bbaale placed a well laid ball by substitute Ivan Sserubiri to the far post, beating Mulabi, to wrap Villa’s fifth win in as many games.
