The Warriors, last weekend lodged a complaint against the Elgon Wolves for fielding an ineligible player during their playoff semi-final in Jinja.

The Wolves have been put in the spotlight for fielding Brighton Bakasa who seems to be appearing on two different rosters, in two different countries at the same time.

Brighton was part of the squad presented by the Elgon Wolves (Uganda Rugby Union) and the Homeboyz (Kenya Rugby Union).

It is not the first time they have been caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

Earlier in the year, a similar complaint was lodged by the Njeru Hurricanes but this fell on deaf ears.

With a lot more at stake, Eunice Olembo, CEO of the Warriors confirmed that the incident with Brighton was formally registered on Saturday, acknowledged on Sunday, and is under investigation.

“The player just showed up and asked to play for us,” retorted Steven Anguma who is part of Elgon Wolves management and whose office (Eastern Region Rugby Development Officer) also received the complaint.

The Warriors lost 10-15 to the Wolves in the playoff semi-final last weekend and the latter are set to tussle it out with the Kitante Eagles this weekend for a place in the top flight.
