The Uganda men’s 7s have reclaimed the Africa 7s trophy after defeating Zimbabwe.
With Madagascar falling to South Africa and Uganda beating Zimbabwe in the semifinals, the Rugby Cranes have been confirmed 2024 Africa Champions, thanks to very good Mathematics.
Uganda can now collect a minimum of 38 points from two weekends, while the closest chaser, Madagascar, can only manage a maximum of 34. The consolation for Madagascar though, they have secured the second slot to represent Africa at the 2025 Challenger Series.
Uganda still has to play South Africa for the Africa 7s Round Two title, while Madagascar has hostilities to renew with Zimbabwe in the third-place playoff.
The Rugby Cranes ran through everyone on the opening weekend of Africa 7s, beating Madagascar in the final, before carrying that form into this weekend. Now, only South Africa stands between the Cranes and an unbeaten campaign.
