Africa Games 2023: Rugby Cranes stagger past Burkina Faso

The Uganda Rugby Cranes survived a resurgent Burkina Faso side to win 24-14 on Day 2 of their Africa Games 2023 campaign.

The Rugby Cranes started the game in their usual flying demeanor scoring two quick tries through Norbert Okeny and Dennis Etwau. Philip Wokorach converted one of the two to give Uganda a 12-00 lead.

Burkina Faso refused to lie down and take punishment, going on the opposite and scoring two tries of their own, converting both and going into the break leading 14-12.

It was a nervy start to the second stanza for the top-ranked rugby Cranes but the hustle on all fronts paid off as two second-half tries through Aaron Ofroywoth and Dennis Etwau to come from behind and win 24-14.

The Uganda Rugby Cranes have now registered three wins from three games but still have games against Kenya, Benin, and Ghana before thinking about winning Gold.
