The Uganda men’s 7s and Lady Cranes 7s teams are in Montevideo this weekend for the second instalment of the 2024 HSBC Sevens Challenger.

The men’s team aim to right the wrongs from Dubai and has since welcomed back the mercurial Philip Wokorach, and the speedsters Timothy Mugisha and Norbert Okeny into the squad for better navigation and exploits.

The Lady Cranes had a goal of making the knockouts in Dubai and exceeded their expectations by making it into the last four, thanks to a barnstorming Day 2 charge.

They will have a target on their backs but Coach Onen wouldn’t want it any other way, wanting to expose the girls to the best kind of international experience they can get.

Owing to this, Grace Auma and Juliet Nandawula returned to the squad and will add their experience to the side.

The top four placed men’s and women’s teams, based on cumulative series points after the third round, will secure their opportunity to compete in the promotion and relegation play-off competition at the SVNS Grand Final in Madrid on 31 May – 2 June against the teams ranked 9th to 12th from 2023–24 SVNS.
