Ngeye Vs Mmamba Namakaka – 3 pm- Musu Vs Ente – 7 pm
Bika Bya Baganda Football tournament for 2026 awaits its opening on May 2 at Muteesa 2 Wankulukuku Stadium.
Buganda Kingdom has given free registration for all Buganda Clan teams for the championship, which will open with two fixtures that include the introduction of night games in the history of the most prestigious sports event in Buganda.
The developments were announced by the Minister for Youth, Sports and Arts in Buganda Kingdom, Robert Sserwanga, during this year’s Championship launch at Bulange in Mengo on Thursday, April 23.
“Though we are experiencing difficulties in organizing this, we are also noticing how heavy it is for the clan teams. We understand many teams have been missing out on participation because of registration tasks. Therefore, we are introducing free registration so that all our clans can have teams to participate in this championship.”
The tournament is scheduled to kick off with two fixtures for the first time as the Kingdom introduces night football. “Our usual arrangements have been having one opening game. This time, we are bringing in night football because we consider not inconveniencing the working arrangements for our people as we are targeting a mass turn up.”
Since we all know that we have different sports disciplines at this championship, all the games shall start on May 2. In football, the first game shall be between Mamba Namakaka and Ngeye, while Musu shall take on Ente Clan. Between the two matches, we shall have All clan matching,” he announced.
The opening ceremony will start at 8am with different activities for Bika teams including Netball, Tug of War, Football, Matching, and other exciting programs.
Ngabi Nsamba are the defending Champions with two consecutive Shields in the most recent years of 2024 and 2025. The reigning champions are not set to start their title defense at the group stage, as they are among the 8 teams that shall start at the round of 16.
