Uganda Cranes edged kingpins Senegal 1-0 in their second match of the African Nations Championships (CHAN) on Wednesday.
Milton Karisa‘s 33rd minute strike at the 19 May Stadium, Annaba guided the Cranes to a memorable victory in Algeria.
Matters could have been different earlier on but Uganda’s goalkeeper Nafian Alionzi superbly saved Ousmane Diouf‘s penalty in the 25th minute.
The URA FC custodian was superb for the entirety of the game, but his second most impactful save came in the 89th minute as he saved brilliantly from a Mousa Kante strike.
Uganda now top the summit with four points in two games ahead of the second placed Lions of Teranga who are on three.
Democratic Republic of Congo and Ivory Coast, who earlier played out a barren stalemate, lie third and fourth with two points and one respectively.
Uganda will look to seal their first ever qualification from the group stage of this competition when they take on Ivory Coast on Sunday. On the same day, DRC will take on Senegal.
