Head coach Milutin Sredojevic ‘Micho’ will be without the services of striker Muhamad Shaban as Uganda Cranes battle Algeria in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match.

The talisman picked up the injury during a friendly game against Hammam Sousse FC in Tunisia on Monday.

“We used all the available players in the game but it is unfortunate that Shaban got injured,” Micho told FUFA media.

“Generally I was impressed with the performance of the team, however, the opponents play in the second division of Tunisia and I think it did not give us the right test.”

“So, we shall have another friendly against Libyan side Al Ahly Tripoli and I believe we shall gauge ourselves furthermore because they are a top club on the continent.”

After the friendly against Al Ahly Tripoli on Wednesday, the Cranes will leave Tunisia for Algeria.

They will play their opening 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Desert Foxes at Stadium in Algiers on Saturday.

Micho’s troops will then return to Uganda take on Niger at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Wednesday, June 8.
