Kabale University, currently sitting third in the group with seven points, faces a must-win situation against Bugema University who are second with 10 points, on Thursday in the University Football League.
To secure a spot in the quarterfinals, Kabale needs not only to win but also score more than ten goals. For Bugema, a point might suffice for qualification, but victory remains their primary goal.
“We’ve worked on converting our scoring opportunities, and we’ve made progress in that area. Our aim is to end the season on a high note,” remarked Bugema coach Medhi Nyanzi.
In the first round, Bugema thrashed Kabale 6-0 with goals from Eric Sawa, Isaac Ssenyunja, Swalfdin Ssebaale, Aziz Opio, Innocent Musuk and Derrick Musinguzi.
Meanwhile the table leaders from Group A, Uganda Martyrs University (UMU) with 12 points, are also vying for a place in the quarterfinals.
UMU coach Eric Kisuuze is confident in his team’s preparation.
“We’ve put in the necessary effort to prepare for this match. We’re ready to deliver and fulfill our expectations.”
“We also want to put on a great performance for our fans,” Kisuuze stated, as his team prepares to face the University of Kisubi (UNIK).
