After KCCA FC enduring a poor 2021/22 season, Chief Executive Officer Anisha Muhoozi has partly blamed the quality of officiation in the league.
The Lugogo team finished in second position, but, with a sounding 18 behind champions Vipers SC.
“True, we had our inefficiencies as a club last season but poor officiating too, played a role to the bad ending. For example, the games against URA FC and Onduparaka,” she claimed while appearing on one of the local television sports show.
As KCCA lost to URA 1-0 in the first leg at the Arena of Visions in Ndejje, Lugogo based side were contentiously denied two goals.
Against Onduparaka in the first leg at the Greenlight Stadium, the hosts’ fans invaded the pitch after a contentious penalty in the dying moments of the game.
Despite the rules posting to an automatic three points and three goals for the guests, FUFA’s Disciplinary Panel instead ordered for a replay which ended one-all. This was all to the dissatisfaction of the KCCA and the local football fraternity.
Muhoozi has however indicated that the team is working around the clock to rectify all the other reasons that induced their poor season before the start of the forthcoming term.
“To be frank, we were not happy with the just concluded campaign. However, we are asking ourselves what went wrong and trying to rectify before the start of the new season.”
Preparations at Lugogo are already underway as the team gears to take part in the Nkurunziza Cup in Burundi.
