A determined Lugazi FC etched another significant chapter in their debut top-flight campaign, securing a 1-0 victory over Express FC on Matchday 19 of the Uganda Premier League.
Sharif Saaka emerged as the hero, his decisive strike in the 43rd minute proving to be the difference in a closely contested encounter.
The goal, a dagger to the visitors, left the Red Eagles reeling from an unexpected defeat, mirroring the 1-0 scoreline from their first clash in October at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo.

Despite Express’s desperate push for an equalizer in the second half, Lugazi’s resolute defence held firm, frustrating the visitors’ attempts and sealing an impressive league double over one of Uganda’s most established clubs.
The loss comes as a bitter pill for Express, especially after their dominant 4-1 victory over Wakiso Giants just days earlier. It also marks their third defeat in the last four league outings, a worrying dip in form for the Red Eagles.
Meanwhile, Lugazi FC continues to prove they belong in the top flight. Steven Bogere’s side has been in red-hot form since the turn of the year, losing only once and winning five matches across all competitions.
Their latest triumph sees them remain 11th on the log, now with 23 points, while Express sits in fifth place with 28 points.
