Ahead of the Uganda Cup Semifinal return leg against defending Champions Vipers SC, Kitara FC Assistant Head Coach Wasswa Bbosa has announced the turn in focus to the tournament after a failed mission in the Uganda Premier League.
“We have not been at our best recently in the league, but our focus is now fully on the Stanbic Uganda Cup. It will not be an easy game at their fortress, but we are boosted by the return of our first-choice goalkeeper and are ready to give our absolute best. Our target is clear: to reach the final and win it.”
In the first leg when Kitara FC hosted Vipers SC in Hoima, the game ended in a barren draw, making the reverse fixture scheduled for the night of Friday, May 15, at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
Going into the fixture, Kitara FC remains winless in the two weeks since the Uganda Cup first leg, and they lost their last encounter 3-2 to Express FC.
Vipers SC continues to chase a back-to-back double of the league and the Uganda Cup; however, their chances in the league chase slipped with a draw against Police FC, which allowed KCCA FC to minimize the gap to 3 points from 5.
With the rivalry growing between the four-time and one-time Uganda Cup winners, in the previous two seasons, either side has eliminated the other to go on and win the trophy.
