Buganda Kingdom Masaza Cup got a new winner in Busiro county over the weekend following a 2-1 win over defending champions Buddu county.
The thrilling final played at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Saturday had a late winner from substitute Kafumbe Masuudi to separate the sides.
With both sides chasing history; Busiro eyeing their first title and Buddu wanting to enter the books as the only side to defend the Masaza Cup, it was a tense game.
The first half had two goals with Isaac Ofoyrwoth finding the back of the net first to silence a vibrant Buddu crowd which got its voice back after Denis Kalanzi levelled matters.
Busiro took home Sh12m for their victory while the losing side bagged Sh9m and the dummy cheques were handed over by the Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga in the absence of the Kabaka.
However, Busiro the winners have another golden opportunity of having His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Muutebi grace their next game as they will host the 2023 Masaza Cup opener.
