Uganda’s football custodian, FUFA has finally allowed Proline FC to feature in Kampala but not Buganda region for the 2022/23 Regional League.

The club had remained assertive that their home is Kampala and despite FUFA denouncing this on several occasions, they have finally reached common ground.

“It is therefore the decision of the FUFA Executive Committee that Proline Football Club is
allowed to play in the Kampala Regional Football League (3rd Division),” partly reads the FUFA letter.

Initially, FUFA’s stand on the team featuring in Buganda, had been based on the fact that Proline had acquired Nalubaale FC, a Buikwe District (Buganda) outfit.

“The FUFA Executive Committee approved that Proline FC plays in the Buganda Regional League for 2022/2023 season. Proline FC acquired Nalubaale FC that was started in Buikwe, Buganda region,” read a FUFA statement declared on Monday.

However, their latest decision has hinged on a similar precedent that was set with Mbale Heroes, who played in the second division as Kiboga Young (Buganda), but, in the Eastern region as Mbale Heroes after demotion to the third division.

“The Executive Committee had based its decision on the provisions of the rules.”

“But, it has since received more information of a precedent earlier taken of allowing Mbale Heroes FC that had been promoted from Buganda Region (as Kiboga Young FC) to the FUFA Big League (2nd Division) on demotion to play in the Eastern Regional League (3rd Division).”
