SC Villa Returns to CAF Champions League with Reward to Loyal Supporters

Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa are set to make a triumphant return to the African continent after a 20-year absence. The club has announced exciting plans for their upcoming Total CAF Champions League preliminary round match against Ethiopia’s CBE.

Fans can secure their spot at the highly anticipated match, scheduled for Saturday, August 17th, at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, by purchasing tickets starting Wednesday, August 14th.

Tickets will be available at City Oil fuel stations in Kampala, with a limited number sold at the stadium entrance on match day. Ordinary tickets are priced at UGX 50,000, while VIP tickets are available for UGX 100,000.

To add to the excitement, SC Villa is giving back to its loyal supporters. All ticket holders will have the chance to win amazing prizes in a raffle draw held during halftime.

Team Preparations

Both SC Villa and CBE will have their final training sessions on Friday, August 16th, with the Ethiopian side taking the field at 10 AM and the Jogoos at 3 PM.

SC Villa head coach, Morley Byekwaso Ochama, expressed confidence in his team despite their inexperience on the continental stage. He highlighted the importance of stopping CBE’s strong ball possession game.

New club captain, David Owori, pledged a strong performance, emphasizing the team’s improved defensive capabilities and overall gameplay.

“We have improved on some of our problems like in defending and now we can play good football I am sure fans will enjoy watching us play, we are going to put in a strong fight to see that we win on return to the continent,” he said.

Squad Changes

The club has undergone significant changes since qualifying for the Champions League, with several key players departing. However, new signings, including Najib Yiga from Vipers SC and Hassan Mubiru from KCCA FC, are expected to bolster the squad.
