Soroti Cricket Academy U17 girls team beat Rwanda U17 team by 7 wickets in the final game of a five-match Series to win the Series 3-2 on Friday.

After a comfortable 2-0 Series lead, SCA girls took their feet off the peddle and were made to witness their opponents draw parity.

The Rwandan girls after convincingly winning Game Three which was the only 40-Over game went ahead to win game four.

Game four was also played on the last day, but the Ugandans fought back in the last game to ensure they win the Series 3-2.

Rwanda U17 batted first, and had hoped to do a repeat of the earlier game, but the firmness of SCA’s opening bowlers couldn’t let them put a defendable score.

Sarah Tino, the eventual Player of the Match was especially unplayable! she dismissed four including Sylvia Usabyimana – Rwanda’s top scorer (13) in the game. Patricia Apolot and Patricia Timong each came out with two.

Nasila Umukundwa won both the Best Bowler and MVP awards, but the other awards went to SCA players.

Asumin Akurut won the Best batter award while wicketkeeper and team skipper Jimia Mohammed took home the Best Fielder award.

Aside from winning, the girls enjoyed their stay in Rwanda, which to many, was their first country to visit.

“The girls had quite an experience! They made friends with their age mates, learnt some French and experienced Rwandan culture and traditions.”

“They got a chance to tour Kigali and visit some iconic places like the BK Arena , Convention Center, the Kigali no car zone to add lifetime memories to the tour.” Felix Musana, the chairman and founder of the academy said.
