Buganda Masaza Cup Organising Committee Chairman Haaj Sulaiman Ssejjengo has called on Masaza Cup team officials and fans to apply much fair play to help the tournament continue growing.
Ssejjengo was giving his remarks at the event held at Bulange inside Kunganiro carbine on May 19 prior to the group stage draws.
In his submission, he strongly appealed, “We are in sports, not wars. Kabaka initiated these games with the aim of getting the people of Buganda united. Sadly, sometimes we fail the purpose of the tournament.”
“I believe if we want to see this tournament continue growing bigger, fair play must be a priority, and also everyone must be responsible for their actions. I call on you to stop playing the blame and start taking responsibilities in our respective capacities.”
The Buganda Masaza Cup 2026 later had successful draws with all 18 teams placed in three groups of 6 team each of Bulange, Muganzirwazza, and Masengere.
The tournament shall kick off on Saturday, June 13, with Buwekula, the defending champions, hosting Kyadondo, whom they beat home and away last season at the group stage.
The group will continue with group-stage games, to the quarterfinal, semifinal, and final on October 30.
