Following the Masaza Cup draws held on May 19, team Managers vowed to overcome the group stage while others don’t just look to reach the knockout.
In the assessment of the group of death, Gomba team Manager Resty Mbatidde Namugema noted, “We have been preparing but now have learnt our opponents in the group, it is a group which has the most successful teams but to win you have to beat those types of teams early, as the record champions the least to expect is a trophy.”
In the same group which has 12 trophies among the four teams include Gomba with five, Mawokota and Bulemeezi with three, and Busiro with one.
Mawokota management committee chairman Ronald Kavuma said, “For us, we don’t care who is in the group with us, we are only focused on stopping out tittle drought, it is ten years without winning it and this year I believe is that year to end the wait.”
Busiro team Manager Thomas Moore also rated being placed with big teams as an advantage,” being in a group with those teams that look bigger, for I call it a blessing because we are going to stop them early, it means in a crucial part of the season we would have thrown them out. We have a good team, a good technical and we believe we are ready to go.”
On the other side in the Bulange Group, Buddu team Manager Steven Zziwa noted, “We can not forget our poor performances last season, this time we are looking to bounce back in a way of saying sorry to our beloved fans, we are prepared and ready for all challenges, we have been preparing for 18 teams now we are ready for these five in our group.”
In the same group as Buddu and Buwekula, Kyadondo Chairman Norman Ssemwanga Kaboggoza said, “first we glad that we are starting with Buwekula in the opener, they claim to have better records against up the football is today not history, we aim to lead this group and go all the way and win the trophy, 16 years is too much for Kyadondo without a trophy because have to be the center of football all good players are based here, the best administrators are here so we have hundle oursalves critically so we win the trophy.”
In the Muganzirwazza group, Mawogola Chairman Uthuman Kateregga,” as we look at our group, we are good enough to be number one in the group, the others will follow, our manager Sodo Kaguta this time wants the trophy and we are looking forward to fulfilling the wish.”
