Defending champions Vipers SC lock horns with Maroons FC in a crucial StarTimes Uganda Premier League matchday 25 clash tonight under the floodlights of St Mary’s Stadium in Kitende.

Vipers are chasing the top spot and a win will see them leapfrog BUL FC to the summit. The Venoms showed resilience in the last league game, a 2-0 victory over Kitara FC in Masindi, witnessed by club president Lawrence Mulindwa.

Aiming for a historic three-peat, Vipers face a determined Maroons side. While Vipers dominated the previous encounter at Kitende with a 3-0 win courtesy of Karisa and a Yunus Sentamu brace, this season’s first round encounter saw them share spoils in a 1-1 draw at Luzira.

Historically, Vipers hold the upper hand in this matchup, having won eight out of the thirteen previous meetings in the league. They have never lost to the Warders.

Maroons, currently sitting comfortably in seventh, approach the game with less pressure. However, their captain, Ronald Orombi, emphasizes their fighting spirit and desire to claim the first ever win against Vipers on Tuesday evening.

Vipers will miss suspended forward Abubakar Lawal, while the availability of Fumador Awisome and captain Milton Karisa remains uncertain. However, Murushid Juuko is back in the squad for the first time since overcoming his knee injury.

Maroons will be without defender Denis Rukundo due to a family bereavement, while Umar Kyebatala is sidelined with injury. However, Innocent Biyiika returns from suspension.
