The Startimes Uganda Premier League kicked off its 25th matchday with a see-saw battle in Kitende. Vipers, the reigning champions, were denied all three points by a determined Maroons side.

A goalless first half gave way to a dramatic second period. Substitute Milton Karisa broke the deadlock for Vipers in the 54th minute, capitalizing on a free kick flicked on by Yunus Ssentamu. Karisa’s first touch after entering the pitch found the back of the net, putting the hosts ahead.

However, Maroons responded swiftly. Just 13 minutes later, youngster Darius Ojok equalized for the visitors. His shot from outside the box took a deflection, beating the Vipers goalkeeper.

Both sides pressed for a winner, with Innocent Biyika and Fred Amaku coming close for the visitors.

Despite dropping points at home, Vipers climb to the top of the table on goal difference, level on points (46) with BUL FC.
