Saturday shall provide a climax showpiece to the Championship playoff qualifiers as new-blood Kitante Eagles and the Warriors RC face off.
The Kitante Eagles have had to wait another week to play the finale after the original result between the Warriors and their semifinal opponent (Elgon Wolves) was nullified and a rematch ordered.
Eagles outclassed Lira Big Boys 96-06 in the quarterfinals before braving past the Gulu City Falcons, winning 21-11.
The Warriors, in the quarterfinals, rode past the Tooro Lions, winning 41-16 before needing to win their replay with Elgon Wolves 31-09 to advance to the finale.
The clash will be between familiar foes pitting the central region champions against the first runner-up.
When the two met in the first round of the Championship, the Warriors came out on top, winning 32-21. In the second round, the Warriors came from 17-03 down to draw their second encounter 17-all.
If anything from these two games is to go by, the finale is going to be show stunner.
After their encounters in the championship, Coach Tumusiime of the Eagles argued he saw a change in mindset from the Warriors and wasn’t surprised. He had seen the improvement.
Warriors approached the first leg with the Kitante Eagles the same they approached their first encounter with the Eagles – lackluster and undermining the opponents.
They changed those tactics and this saw them manage a draw ( against Eagles) and a resultant playoff final.
Everything ahead of the finale indicates that it will be nail biting and the Warriors will need another immaculate outing from Hamza Kinyai to get one up on the high flying Kitante Eagles.
