The hosts recovered from an early setback in the 20 over game to post 123 for four. Elizabeth Acheng and Stephanie Nampina fell inside the first two overs, leaving Jinja SSS on 10 for two.

Asha Mukite then steadied the innings with a superb 53 off 46 balls, striking eight boundaries. She found support from captain Sheila Namagoba, who scored 17, before Jacinta Nalumansi remained unbeaten on 14 to guide the team to a competitive total.

Sandra Acwao was Tornado Bees’ best bowler with two wickets, while Jackline Nakayovu picked up one.

In reply, Tornado Bees never looked capable of chasing down the target. Sandra Acwao top-scored with 17, while Anna Nyapendi added 20, but the visitors struggled to score freely against a disciplined bowling attack.

Nassuna Tahia claimed two wickets, while Abbo Maureen, Kisa Anna Mary and Namagoba picked up one each. Jinja SSS also produced three crucial run-outs as Tornado Bees finished on 73 for seven, 50 runs short of the target.

Earlier, a delayed start meant the first match was reduced to 10 overs per side. Jinja SSS made the most of the shortened contest, posting 92 for one thanks to an unbeaten 42 from Elizabeth Acheng and a rapid 43 from Stephanie Nampina.

Morning

  • Jinja SSS 92/1 in 10 Overs
  • Tornado Bees 40/5 in 10 Overs

Jinja SSS won by 52 runs

The pair dominated the Tornado Bees bowlers and shared a match-winning opening stand before Nampina fell in the ninth over.

Chasing 93, Tornado Bees struggled from the outset. Sandra Acwao scored eight while Anna Nyapendi remained unbeaten on 13, but regular wickets and tight bowling kept the scoring rate in check.

Nassuna Tahia, Namagoba and Abbo Maureen each claimed a wicket, while the fielders contributed three run-outs as Tornado Bees were restricted to 40 for five.

The two victories capped an impressive day for Jinja SSS, whose batting depth and disciplined bowling proved too much for Tornado Bees in both encounters.
