Janet Mbabazi led from the front as Soroti City Cricket Club completed a dominant double over Jinja Senior Secondary School Cricket Club to move level on points with Olila Cricket Club at the top of the Cricket Uganda Women’s T20 National League Division One table.

Soroti opened the day with a convincing 57 run victory before returning to chase down 99 with five wickets in hand and 22 balls to spare at Jinja Oval on Saturday. Only net run rate now separates Soroti and Olila in the title race.

The morning game was shaped by Mbabazi’s captain’s innings. After early wickets threatened to slow Soroti, she struck 76 from 53 balls, sharing a key partnership with Proscovia Alako, who added 29, as Soroti posted 165 for four.

Jinja never recovered in the chase. Stephanie Nampina top-scored with 38, while Asha Mukite made 32, but Soroti’s bowlers kept the pressure on throughout. Alio Ritah and Tino Sarah claimed two wickets each as Jinja finished on 108 for six.
The afternoon contest was more competitive. Nampina again impressed with 57, helping Jinja reach 98 for seven after Soroti’s bowlers shared the wickets.

Soroti’s reply stumbled early and slipped to 65 for five, giving the hosts hope. But Arugo Joyce Mary held her nerve with an unbeaten 19, while Naume Jane Amongin added an unbeaten 12 to steer the visitors to victory in 16.2 overs.
Mbabazi managed only 11 in the second match, but her match winning knock in the opener proved crucial as Soroti completed a perfect day.
