Both Uganda Christian University and Uganda Martyrs University will be looking towards a first leg victory in the semi-final of the University Football League, at the former’s home in Mukono on Thursday.
UCU head coach Collins Ahumuza is buoyant and convinced his team has everything it takes to win and advance to the final.
“The boys are ready and looking forward to the game. We have prepared well and the boys are fit and ready,” Ahumuza said to the media on Wednesday.
“Uganda Martyrs is a good team. All the teams that are at this stage are good teams but we believe we have what it takes and shall win. It won’t be an easy win for us but the boys are focused and we know what we want as a team.”
Meanwhile, UMU’s tactician Eric Kisuze asserts his side is not taking the matters lightly and will definitely put up a fight.
“We are not taking UCU as a light team. They are the defending champions and are one of the best teams in the league so we shall have to play well to get a positive result from Mukono,” Kisuze said.
“We have prepared well and we are set and we are going to play with all our strength so as to get a good result.”
In the quarterfinals, UCU eliminated Nkumba University 2-0 on aggregate after a goalless draw in the first leg away and a 2-0 win in the second at home.
On the other hand, Uganda Martyrs edged Bugema University 3-2 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw in the first leg away and a 2-1 win in the second.
