- Vipers SC 3-0 Entebbe UPPC FC
Yunus Junior Sentamu struck twice as Vipers Sports Club eased to a 3-0 win over Entebbe UPPC at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Sunday evening as they wrapped up Match-day 25, taking firm control of the title race.
This completed a season double over Entebbe UPPC, after a narrow 1-0 win in the first meeting.
However, it was not straightforward at first. Entebbe UPPC who were without head coach Abdallah Mubiru who lost a dad, stayed compact and disciplined with former Vipers head coach Charles Livingstone Mbabazi at the helm, frustrated Vipers throughout a goalless first half despite the hosts’ dominance on the ball.
The breakthrough came four minutes after the restart. Sentamu, lively all game, rose to head in Abdul Karim Watambala’s corner and finally break the resistance.
That goal shifted the mood. Vipers grew sharper, moving the ball quicker and finding spaces that had been closed earlier.
In the 77th minute, Enock Ssebagala slipped a neat pass into Sentamu’s path, and the striker made no mistake with a simple finish for his second.
Three minutes later, substitute Gusto Mulongo put the result beyond doubt. He replaced Milton Karisa and quickly made his mark, heading in Enock Luyima’s cross from the left.
Vipers had needed patience, but once they found their rhythm, they were ruthless.
The win moves them seven points clear at the top, ahead of KCCA, SC Villa and Kitara, who remain level on points.
