Vipers SC were nerveless as they defeated record champions SC Villa 2-0 on Tuesday in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The Venoms netted through star-forward Yunus Sentamu and exciting midfielder Karim Watambala at the St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.
It was the second defeat in succession for the Jogoo, who also lost 3-0 to KCCA FC previously. Their season is changing color for the worse following an excellent start.
On the evening, Milton Karisa was twice denied by the guests’ goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige in the seventh minute, to leave matters tied.
The hosts however found the opener in the 20th minute, with Yunus latching on a loose ball after absymal defending.
The visitors came back in the second stanza better for a spell before Davis Sekajja was sent off for a bad challenge on Karisa.
Charles Baale and Travis Mutyaba then tested Vipers’ goalkeeper Alfred Macumu Mudekereza but the latter was strong to deny both.
Vipers netted the second through Watambala’s screamer from outside the box with a minute to play.
Following the result, Villa occupy seventh with 14 points and will visit Maroons FC in their next match on December 4.
Meanwhile, Vipers who have 20 points, will on the same day be guests to Gadaffi FC, who lost 2-1 to KCCA at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Tuesday.
