Following the long countdown from 64 school teams to four, Bukedi Zone giants Amus College and Bukedea Comprehensive defeated the Wakiso zone pair of record champions St Mary’s Kitende and first-time semifinalist Kyadondo SS.
In Lira City, on May 18, Richard Malinga coached Amus College School at Dr Obote College, which won on penalties 4-1 after playing 0-0 for 80 minutes, to reach the tournament’s second final.

Their first final came under Nimrod Kintu in Masaka 2024 when they defeated St Mary’s Kitende 10-9 on penalties after 0-0 in normal play. In the final, they were beaten 3-0 by St Julian Mukono, who won the trophy as debutants.
On the other side of the 2026 USSSA Boys football U20 bracket at Lira Town College, Bukedea Comprehensive reached their first-ever final by beating Kyadondo SS 1-0, Patrick Ssenkusu scored the goal.
Bukedea Comprehensive has won its first semifinal after losing in 2024 and 2025 at the same stage, losing to eventual winners on both attempts to St Julian Mukono and Buddo SS.
After striving for long at the Zone final, now the rivalry has arrived at the nationals as they continue to put on commanding statements against the domination of Wakiso Zone.
Amus College is under the stewardship of Richard Malinga who coached Bukedea Comprehensive in 2024, while in the other technical area, there will be Ronald Wasswa Ssali, who succeeded him in 2025.
With the final coming tomorrow May 19 starting at 3:00pm at Lira Town College, Kyadondo SS, and St Mary’s Kitende shall repeat the 2026 Wakiso zone final as they contest for third place at Nationals in the morning.
