Former Kawempe Muslim star Sandra Nabweteme has applauded the growth of girls’ football in Uganda schools.
Nabweteme was a part of the panel that conducted the USSSA Boys and Girls Football Championship draws at USSSA Head Offices at Old Kampala on Friday, 2nd May 2025.
The USSSA girls football groomed star conducted draws alongside two other former USSSA Boys football players in Edgar Watson Suubi, now the Chief Executive Officer at the national football governing Body FUFA and Mustafa Kiiza.
After conducting the draws, which saw Defending champions Kawempe Muslim being drawn into Group A alongside Katikamu SS, Taggy High School, and Jinja Comprehensive School, the former Kawempe Muslim forward Nabweteme spoke her mind on the competition.
“Girls’ football has changed a lot. Back in our days, we were sure that Kawempe Muslim would win, now it is different, many teams are capable of taking the trophy.
“The competition has changed from only one possible winner, and now the competition is high,” said Nabweteme.
Going into the championship to be held at Bukedea Comprehensive between 5th to 15th May 2025, defending champions have competitors like Amus College, host Bukedea Comprehensive and St Noa Girls.
