Vipers unveils former Brazil U-20 International

After a whole history without a single Brazilian player at Vipers SC, the club has unveiled two in less than a week.

After the capture of Giancarlo Lopez Rodriguez, the Uganda Premier League champions have signed Luiz Otavio Santos de Araujo alias Tinga.

Tinga has inked a two-year employment contract with the Venoms, till 2025.

Now a 32 year-old, the defensive midfielder is a former Brazil U-20 international , who made six official caps for the under-age team in 2009.

According to the club website, the player’s senior career dates back to 2010 at Ponte Preta, Palmeiras (2011-2013) with short spells at Ceara SC and Figueirense during that time.

In 2013, he departed Palmeiras for Avai FC (Brazilian Serie A) where he spent a year before joining Jubilo lwata in Japan. He rejoined the former in 2015.

The midfielder then joined Suphanburi FC in Thailand in another short spell before going back home at Joinville SC.

Other sides he has featured for include Santo Andre, CRB, Umm Salai SC, Vila Nova FC, Santa Cruz and Volta Redonda.

Tinga’s most recent adventures had him at Brusque in 2021, Botafogo PB in 2022, with his most recent team being Marcilio Dias this year.

His journey has had him feature in the Brazilian top-flight, the second and third tiers, while he has also played in the Japanese second division.

He will face stiff competition from the likes of Nzau Miguel Lutumba, Siraje Ssentamu, Karim Watambala, Marvin Joseph Youngman among others.

He is the fourth recruitee in the ongoing transfer window after Rodriguez, David Bagoole and Richard Matovu.
