The 2024 Masaza Cup continued to see a flurry of goals in week two, with an average of 2.4 goals per game. Three matches even saw an exciting 4 goals each, while only one game involving Buwekula ended goalless.
However, Buwekula County is yet to find the net after two matches played. Despite this slow start, their Head Coach, Felix Ssekabuza, remains optimistic. “We are yet to score, but the goals and wins will come,” he assured reporters.
Buwekula who are 4 points adrift of the top of the Magazirwazza group still has 7 games to play and will be traveling to current leaders Kyaggwe in week 3.
In the same group, the record 5 time champions Gomba Ssaza, under the stewardship of new gaffer Nasib Mukasa, will travel to Mawogola. Gomba is also winless and scoreless so far, and will face a Mawogola team that has one win under their belt.
Ssingo Seeks to Maintain Winning Ways
Ssingo Ssaza will be looking to build on their 4-0 win over Gomba when they travel to Kooki Ssaza, who played to a goalless draw with Buwekula.
One of the surprise teams of the tournament so far, Bululi Ssaza, will travel to Kyadondo for a match at Homesdalen in Gayaza.
Their coach, Anthony Bongole, is confident of securing all three points. Bululi has won both their games so far, with Forward Robert Ssewanyana scoring in both matches.
Kyadondo will be looking to return to winning ways from their last defeat to Buddu. The central county won their opener against Bugerere.
Bulemeezi will be back at home to host Butambala, who are coming off a 2-0 loss to Bululi in their first away trip. Butambala will be hoping to avoid a third consecutive defeat, having already lost to Bululi and Bugerere.
Bugerere will be looking to redeem themselves when they host Buddu at Ntenjeru. Both teams bounced back from opening day losses in the last round. Buddu defeated Kyadondo 1-0, while Bugerere crucially beat Bulemeezi.
The long weekend of fixtures kicks off on Saturday, July 13th, with a match in the Masengere group between Buvuma and Busujju. Buvuma has drawn both their games so far, while Busujju leads the group with a perfect record of two wins.
