We can get something – Lugazi head coach Mugerwa ahead of SC Villa encounter

Lugazi head coach Simon Peter Mugerwa is not making excuses ahead of Wednesday’s contest with SC Villa, even as injuries and suspensions leave his squad stretched.

Wasswa Paul, Cuti Peter, David Bagoole, Ashiraf Mulindi and Rogers Atube are all ruled out, while Derrick Mwanje is suspended. Hamza Mulambuzi and Adam Mutesaasira remain doubts. It’s a heavy blow for a side already struggling for results.

Still, Mugerwa is focused on what his team has shown on the pitch.

“We had good performances against Entebbe UPPC and Calvary, and we need to turn those into results,” he said. “Villa are in good form, but at home we believe we can get something.”

Lugazi sit 13th on 20 points and are winless in seven matches since beating UPDF in February. They need a result to ease pressure in the relegation fight.

Villa arrive with their own urgency. Wins for Vipers SC and KCCA on Tuesday mean the Jogoos cannot afford to slip. On 45 points and ten behind the leaders, they must keep winning to stay in touch.

The reverse fixture ended goalless, despite Villa’s dominance, something Lugazi will take confidence from.

Villa could miss Patrick Kakande after he limped off against Vipers, but they still carry threat through Frank Ssebuufu, Hassan Mubiru and Reagan Mpande.
