Uganda Cranes star forward Fahad Bayo has highlighted the team will need to have an extraordinary mentality if they’re to defeat Algeria in the qualifiers of the Africa Cup of Nations.
It will not be easy against one of the finest teams on the continent, but Bayo is optimistic the results can come their way with thorough mental preparation.
The two face-off at the Japoma Stadium in Douala, Cameroon, on Sunday.
“We know what’s at stake but the mentality at this stage from everyone in camp must be at its finest,” Bayo said in his interview with FUFA.
“It is not an easy stage as the young players will need guidance to manage such pressure moments but we are confident.”
“It is not easy for strikers. The job is to score goals, if I don’t score it hits me,” he added about his lack of goals in the recent past.
“But I remain mentally strong. I will score goals. It’s all about keeping the faith and more hard work,” the lanky striker added.
The MFK Vyskov striker is yet to score a goal with the two Cranes goals coming from Vipers SC’s Milton Karisa and KCCA FC’s Rogers Mato.
Uganda sit third in Group F with four points, while Algeria, who are already through to the finals in Ivory Coast, have amassed 12 points.
