Kyadondo has unveiled a 31-man squad for the 2026 Buganda Masaza Cup during an event held at the Santana Grounds in Wampeewo on May 28.

The squad for the Plascon powered Cup features only five returning players from last season. Among them are last year’s top scorer, Abaasi Muluya Junior, and Enock Ssekatawa, alongside goalkeeper Ashiraf Bwabye, defender Alex Kiyaga, and winger Alex Mutebi.

The extensive list of new signings includes Kenneth Ssebaduka from Bulemeezi; Isaac Apenyo, Calvin Otim, and Mumbeere Abdul Razak from Gomba; Hamza Kalibwami from Busiro; and Trevor Kalule from Buvuma, who notably requested the captain’s armband as part of his transfer contract.

The team has also boosted its coaching staff, which is headed by Bright Nyanzi. Denis Kiyimba joins as the assistant coach after serving as Busiro’s head coach last year. He is joined by Mustafa Kalinda, who returns from a one-year suspension dating back to his 2024 head coaching stint at Butambala.

Speaking at the venue, team chairman Nicholas Lubwama, popularly known as “Yesu Afaayo,” rallied fans to stand strong behind the team.

“I am confident that we are well-equipped to go far in this year’s tournament. Even winning it is possible if you, our fans, do what you are supposed to do. For us in management, our coaches, and the players, we are ready for any challenge.”

At the same event, Kyadondo county chief Kaggo Ahmed Magandaazi called on fans to remain calm during challenging moments.

“I plead with our fans to maintain discipline. I understand there are many challenges that can try your patience, but you must stay calm in those moments. This year’s rules are very strict against hooliganism, and we will not protect any fan who incites violence.”

To cap off the unveiling, Kyadondo played a friendly match where they defeated Kyaggwe 2-1. Faizo Bumaali and Abaasi Muluya Junior scored for the hosts, while Ronnie Ziraba pulled one back for Kyaggwe.

Kyadondo is placed in the Bulange Group alongside the defending champions, whom they will face in the season’s opening match. Buddu, Buvuma, Busujju, and Buluuli complete the group.
