The National Cricket League had three games on the menu over the weekend with Kampala, Jinja and Entebbe hosting the games.
Defending champions Aziz Damani ended Challengers Cricket Club‘s title hopes with a nervous 5 wicket win in Lugogo.
With a title on the line, both sides had reinforcements from Kenya in former Kenyan international Maurice Ouma for Challengers and Irfan Karim for Damani.
In a low scoring game Challengers were bundled out cheaply and even if Damani was made to work for the win, they got over the line despite losing 5 wickets thanks to a revised target of 126 runs following a rain break.
Damani, a side with the best players in the land is yet to lose a game and are most likely to win all of their games in hand and clinch a fourth successive title.
At Entebbe Cricket Oval, Cricket Cranes Captain Brian Masaba was on fire for Wanderers putting in an all round performance as he picked six wickets for 15 and managed to score 52 runs for his side.
Masaba’s performance spurred Wanderers to a six wicket win over Avengers who had put 172 runs on the scoreboard.
Across River Nile bridge in Jinja district, Premier was able to edge the school children of Jinja SSS in another low scoring thriller.
Jinja SSS failed to use the home advantage and pick up some valuable points as they combined only 40 runs all out in 19.4 overs.
