Mallisa Ariokot delivered a stellar all-round performance as Olila Cricket Club bounced back from a morning defeat to stun Soroti City CC by 13 runs in the evening fixture of the 2026 Cricket Uganda Women’s T20 National League Division One on Saturday.
Afternoon
- Olila CC 139/5 in 20 Overs
- Soroti CC 126/9 in 20 Overs
Soroti CC won by 13 runs
Having suffered a three wicket loss to the same opponents earlier in the day, Olila returned to the field determined to make amends and found their hero in Ariokot, whose unbeaten half-century inspired a spirited response.
Batting first, Olila posted a competitive 139 for five in their allotted 20 overs, thanks largely to Ariokot’s magnificent unbeaten 69 off 45 deliveries. The aggressive knock, laced with seven boundaries and a six, came at a crucial moment after Olila had stumbled to 21 for two inside the opening four overs.
Ariokot found an able ally in Lorna Anyait, who compiled a patient 45 off 59 balls, striking four boundaries and a six. The pair steadied the innings before accelerating in the closing stages to put Olila in a commanding position.
Earlier, Asumin Akurut had fallen for eight while Esther Iloku managed just four as Soroti City made early inroads. Naume Jane Amongin was the pick of the bowlers with figures of two for 26, while Ruth Akello and Patricia Timong claimed a wicket each.
Set a target of 140, Soroti City began positively with wicketkeeper Jimia Muhammed leading the charge. Muhammed struck 35 off 30 balls, including four fours and a six, while Proscovia Alako added a brisk 27 from 20 deliveries to keep the chase alive.
However, Olila’s bowlers kept striking at regular intervals to halt Soroti City’s progress. Asumin Akurut claimed two wickets for 25 runs, while Lorna Anyait, Nyamer Devine Gabriella, Sarah Akiteng and Ariokot picked up a wicket apiece.
Olila’s fielders also played a decisive role, effecting four run-outs as Soroti City finished on 126 for nine, falling 13 runs short of the target.
The victory was a timely response for Olila, who had endured a difficult start to the day after being restricted to 96 for eight in the morning encounter.
Morning
- Olila CC 96/8 in 20 Overs
- Soroti CC 100/7 in 20 Overs
Soroti CC won by 3 wickets
In that match, Ariokot again top-scored with 37, while Joan Ilora contributed 28. But Soroti City’s disciplined bowling attack, led by Naume Jane Amongin’s impressive three for 13, ensured Olila never gained momentum.
Soroti City successfully chased down the modest target, reaching 100 for seven in 19.2 overs. Arugo Joyce Mary anchored the innings with an unbeaten 32, guiding her side to a hard-fought three-wicket victory.
By the end of an entertaining double-header, the honours were shared, with each side claiming one victory apiece.
