For the past editions, the 2026 Inter Islamic Secondary Schools Association of Uganda (ISSAU) netball title had been dominated by either Greenlight Islamic Secondary School Nansana or Madina Islamic Secondary School Nsangi. However, Hamdan Islamic Secondary School Nakifuma has finally ended that dominance by winning the 2026 championship.

In a heated final played at Buziga Islamic, Hamdan Islamic edged Greenlight Islamic 12-11 in a highly intense encounter to complete a remarkable campaign against the tournament’s traditional powerhouses.

Hamdan’s triumph came after they had squeezed past Madina Islamic 10-7 in the semifinal before going on to dethrone Greenlight in the final.

The victory in the final also served as redemption for Hamdan, who had suffered a 14-10 defeat to Greenlight during the group stages. They recovered strongly, registering emphatic wins over Rabiha High School Bombo (28-1), Kampala Islamic Secondary School (27-1) and Top Times High School Kyengera (18-3).

Greenlight, on the other hand, reached a fourth consecutive final after comfortably overcoming Bilal Islamic Secondary School Bwaise 15-7 in the semifinal.

Earlier in the group stages, Greenlight had enjoyed an easy sweep, defeating Rabiha High School Bombo 26-1, Kampala Islamic Secondary School 29-1, Hamdan Islamic Nakifuma 14-10 and Top Times High School Kyengera 12-2.

Before 2026, the tournament had only produced two champions, with Madina Islamic winning the title in 2023 and 2025, while Greenlight claimed the 2024 crown, having also lost three finals.
