The Weekend Schools League will be played in a home-and-away double round-robin format during weekends, running from now until mid-December later this year.

The girls’ football league is expected to feature around 10 schools in its first edition, running concurrently with the boys’ football and basketball competitions.

The annual competitions were unveiled in 2024, with Greenlight Islamic Secondary School Nansana dominating the first two editions by emerging champions on both occasions.

The Zone aims at proper talent development as it prepares schools in the sporting district to grow into stronger competition against other schools from different parts of the country.

Despite the challenges, the initiative is set to become a role model for other sporting districts under the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association as they continue to adopt similar structures.
