Ugandan winger Hakim Kiwanuka stepped up in the absence of Ronald Ssekiganda, starting for APR FCin a tense 1-1 draw against rivals Rayon Sport in the 1000 Hills Derby at Amahoro Stadium.
Kiwanuka was lively early on, stretching play on the right, but his final delivery lacked accuracy in a game where chances were few and often wasted.

Rayon Sport settled quicker and took the lead in the 32nd minute through Asman Ndikumana, who punished a defensive mistake with a sharp finish. They had another chance to double the lead but failed to make it count.
APR responded before the break. After a foul on Ruboneka in the box, Djibril Ouattara converted from the spot in the 40th minute to level the match.
In the second half, Denis Omedi came off the bench and nearly won it for APR, but his header from Ouattara’s delivery drifted off target.
Both sides pushed late on, but neither found a winner.
APR remain second with 56 points, while Rayon Sport sit fourth on 48 after 29 matches.
