Time arrested Bika Football opener as Musu eventually beat Nte 3-1

Time and arrangement were asleep weos at Bika Bya Baganda Football big turn as the game was delayed for over 10 minutes past the scheduled Kick-off time.

The teams walked onto the pitch in time, the chief guest Charles Peter Mayiga the Buganda Kingdom Prime Minister, and Bika leaders alongside Airtel’s Sales and Distribution Director Ali Balunywa walked on the red carpet to inspect the teams.

The inspections and anthems, including Buganda, National, and East Africa, took about 8 minutes from the kickoff time, before more voices came in when the team in charge of branding slept on duty.

From the conclusion of the inspections, it took up 3 minutes to clear the pitch which was decorated by red carpets until the master of the ceremony reminded the team in Charge.

After a moment of sleep, the team removed the carpets to lead the game starting at 7:15pm which appeared 15 minutes later for the game player under the Muteesa 2 Wankulukuku Stadium floodlights on Saturday May 2.

In the game, Martin Nsimbe opened the score for Musu in the early minutes, midway through the first half Jibril Badru Nsimbe added on the second and Rafael Mulumba scored the third in the stoppage time of the first half to send the game into the interval with Musu leading 3-0

After the half-time break, Nte who had a goal ruled out after Ivan Mulema scored from offside position, in the second half tried to raise their socks to pull a consolation goal via Derrick Kakooza to make it 3-1 which stood to be the full-time result.

Meanwhile, later Umar Kasumba missed a penalty saved by Joram Ssekine who came on to replace the injured Denis Ssebugwawo in Musu’s goalkeeping.

After the game, Musu team Coach Faridah Bulega noticed, “It has been our day and we executed all our plans, as we promised we have fulfilled because Nte failed to get anything to eat as we mowed each grass, this win is not the end but we are now switching to the next games as we handle games one at a time.”

Nte Head Coach Richard Lukyamuzi responded to the results by saying that, “we have fallen into slight defensive eras that cost us early goals  we are going back to work on our mistakes and look at ways of bouncing back to win the remaining games so that we can progress to the next stage.”

After the opening win, Musu leads group A which has teams like Butiko, Ffumbe, and Musu all vying to top the group and progress to the knockout stage of the tournament.

The tournament shall continue tomorrow with four games taking place at each venue, such as Muteesa 2 Wankulukuku Stadium, Lubiri SS, Kawanda SS, and Kabaka  Kyabaggu in Wakiso town.
