As they hope for a strong show in the 2023/24 Masaza Cup tournament, Buddu Ssaza have re-appointed Simon Peter Mugerwa as head coach, after five years away.

The Kansai Plascon painted Buddu side and Mugerwa have been together previously in 2016 and 2018, but he is now back to relay his experience.

In 2016, together with Buddu, they won the trophy, their first in the history of the competition.

He also won the Masaza trophy with Busiro Ssaza last season and Buddu feels he can colour Masaka and its neighbouring region again.

“To return to Buddu Ssaza is coming back home. This is my home where my coaching journey started,” Mugerwa said upon the appointment.

“I am returning to Buddu to make it at the top once again. The main target is the trophy, nothing else,” he promised.

Mugerwa doubles as the head coach at both Proline FC and Buddo Secondary School.

Buddu is pitted in the Masengere group, along with Buwekula, Kyaggwe, Kyadondo, and Buluuli.
