Sport-S Volleyball Club kept their tournament hopes alive with a thrilling comeback, fighting from two sets down to beat AS INJS 3-2 at the BK Arena on Sunday.
It was a match that swung wildly. AS INJS took control early, edging a tight first set 29-27 before cruising through the second 25-18.
Sport-S looked headed for another straight-sets loss, having already fallen to Al Ahly Volleyball Cluband Kepler Volleyball Club in similar fashion.
But they refused to fold. Sport-S came out sharper in the third set, winning 25-18 to shift momentum.
They followed it with a composed 25-19 victory in the fourth, forcing a deciding set and turning belief into pressure on their opponents.
The fifth set was tense and tight. Both teams traded points, but Sport-S held their nerve at the end, sealing it 18-16 to complete a dramatic reverse sweep.
The win is a big lift for the Ugandan champions. They had managed just one victory in their first three matches and have been dealing with injuries to key players, including setter Moses Odeke and opposite Gum Malil.
Now with two wins, and confidence restored, Sport-S are back in the fight for a place in the knockout stage.
