- JACC 178 all out in 38 Overs (Aloysius Odoi 62, Sadam Oyaga 33; Fortunate Alijuna 3/25, Brian Asaba 3/43)
- Aboojo CC 63/10 in 21.1 Overs (Ivan Thawithemwira 18, Amos Ahura 16; Yunus Sowobi 4/8)
JACC won by 115 runs
Aboojo’s difficult season in the Cricket Uganda Men’s 50 Over National League Gold group continued on Saturday after JACC handed them a heavy 115 run defeat at the Jinja SSS Oval.
The loss kept Aboojo rooted at the bottom of the table after another batting collapse exposed the problems that have followed them throughout the campaign.
JACC did not have the perfect start either. Patel Abhay and Aaron Kusasira fell early, while captain Kenneth Waiswa also departed cheaply as the innings slipped to 14 for three inside six overs.
Michu Faizal and Nyiiro Johnathan briefly steadied the innings, but Aboojo remained on top when JACC dropped to 74 for six midway through the innings.
Then came the turning point, Aloysius Odoi changed the mood of the match with an aggressive 62 off 50 balls, striking five fours and two sixes. His innings lifted JACC from trouble and gave them a total to defend.
Sadam Oyaga added a patient 33 as the pair rebuilt the innings before JACC were bowled out for 178 in 38 overs.
Brian Asaba and Fortunate Alijuna picked up three wickets each for Aboojo, but the bowlers were not helped by 36 extras conceded.
Any hopes of a recovery in the chase disappeared quickly.
Kenneth Waiswa struck twice with the new ball before Sowobi Yunus ripped through the middle order with figures of four for eight in four overs.
Aboojo never recovered after losing wickets in clusters. Ivan Thawithemwira top scored with 18 while Amos Ahura made 16, but no other batter offered resistance as the side was dismissed for 63 in 21.1 overs.
JACC’s dominant display gave them a comfortable victory, while Aboojo were left searching for answers once again.
League action continues on Sunday with Rounders Cricket Club facing Mukono Warriors in Entebbe, while Ceylon Lions take on Jinja SSS Oval, both in the Gold Group.
In the Silver Group, Kutchi Tigers B will play Soroti City at GM Sugar, while Park Shaheens face Centurion A in the Bronze B group at the Serenity Oval.
