Soroti City CC won by 7 wickets
Soroti City Cricket Club bounced back from their recent defeat to Ismaili Community with double wins over St John’s SS Mukono and a commanding seven-wicket win over Nile Cricket Club in the Silver Group of the Cricket Uganda Men’s National Cricket League at Lugogo Cricket Oval on Saturday.
The victory was built on a disciplined bowling display that restricted Nile to just 96 runs in 37.5 overs.
Nile struggled from the start, losing both openers inside the first seven overs. Gururaj Shekharaju scored 15 while captain Kangume Lennon made 19, but no batter was able to build a significant innings as wickets fell regularly.

Hillary Kuteesa led Soroti City’s attack with three wickets for 18 runs. Derrick Bakunzi and Stephen Okiror picked up two wickets each, while Peter Ocen and Jacob Malinga claimed one apiece to help bowl Nile out for 96.

Chasing 97 for victory, Soroti City made light work of the target.
Juma Sururu produced an aggressive knock of 47 off 37 balls, striking five fours and two sixes. He shared a 73-run opening stand with Alban Ainebyona, who contributed 23, putting Soroti firmly in control of the chase.
Although Nile claimed three wickets, the result was never in doubt. Captain Ronald Ebulu remained unbeaten on 11 alongside Gideon Outeke on nine as Soroti reached 99 for three in just 15.4 overs.
The win sees Soroti City quickly recover from their loss to Ismaili Community and get their Silver Group campaign back on track.
Elsewhere, JACC will face Kutchi Tigers in the Gold Group at Jinja SSS Cricket Ground on Sunday. In the Silver Group, Ceylon Lions will host Rounders at Serenity Oval in Kamengo, while Kutchi Tigers B take on SKLPS at Entebbe Cricket Ground.
